Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z Welcome a Baby Daughter Called Blue Ivy Carter!

On this fine morning, we send our huge congratulations to Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z who have welcomed their first child into the world! According to E! Online, the divalicious 30-year-old delivered a daughter via scheduled C-section on Saturday night at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.  And the name of Baby Beyonce? Blue Ivy Carter. Cuuute!
Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z Welcome a Daughter Called Blue Ivy Carter!
Despite initial rumours that the tot was named Ivy Blue, BFF Gwyneth Paltrow clarified the name to a confused Twitter follower, saying 'It's Blue Ivy Carter.' Cheers Gwyn! Speculation is rife that the musical couple chose the name after Jay Z’s trilogy of albums ‘Blueprint’ and Beyonce’s latest album ‘4’ (IV in Roman numerals). The number is particularly special to the couple as Bey and Jay were born on September 4 and December 4 respectively, they wed on 4th April 2008 and have matching tattoos of the Roman numeral on their wedding fingers. And their Baby Blue has taken Jay-Z's surname (his real name is Shawn Carter).
Naturallement, with such a unique name (take that, Harper Seven!) and an abundance of superstar genes, Mini-Bey is bound to cause a global sensation. At just one day old, she’s already trending on Twitter thanks to congratulations from around the world, including one from Rihanna who said ‘Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih’ while Beyonce's sister Solange tweeted 'The most beautiful girl in the world.' As for Gwyneth, she said 'Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.' Awww.
According to the New York Daily News, Beyonce checked into the Upper East Side hospital under the name Ingrid Jackson on Saturday, booking out the entire fourth floor of the hospital for a cool $1.3million. Takeaway food and bottles of red wine were said to have been delivered to the hospital's private wing over the weekend.
So join us in raising a glass to the new parents (yes, we appreciate it’s only 12 o’clock but there’s a LOT of post-Christmas booze to polish off).
